Opening of the green 2020

The green was finally opened on Tuesday 30th June after being locked down due to the Covid19 pandemic.

During the lockdown the green has been maintained by Ross and Andy with help from others for which the club is extremely grateful.

The committee agreed to start bowling again albeit with strict limitations. A cautious start, with the green being open on Tuesdays from 2.00pm to 5.00pm and Thursdays from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Tuesdays are being run by the Chairman, Tony Williams and the Thursday sessions by Des Skillington, contact numbers as per the handbook.

Booking is essential in order to limit the numbers and to abide by social distancing. 4 rinks are open at the moment but hopefully more sessions and number of rinks may be available if and when the situation improves.

Panto Drive 2019

Another successful social event at the club with some wonderful pantomime themed costumes.

Audrey excelled yet again, ably assisted by Tony, decorating the clubhouse windows.

Everyone had a great time and we were treated to some lovely singing from James Fry.

Well done to everyone and a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

Club Chairman Tony Williams presented the trophies at our Presentation Day prior to which the members enjoyed a "Round Robin" bowling session in glorious sunshine followed by a splendid buffet with bar provided by our President, Bob Reeves of The Plough, Farnsfield. Stan Chadwick presented a commemorative plate to Ivy Senior to mark the tremendous work she had carried out as secretary over the many years. Her contribution to the club over the years has been immense and much appreciated by all.

Farnsfield Village match - Sunday 8th Sept 2019

Yet again the sun shone on a very successful Village Match keenly contested by various village organisations. The match was again held in support of the "First Responders" of Farnsfield who perform such a valuable service for the village. Peter Teather was presented with the proceeds of our raffle which raised a total of £122.70. Donations to this service has helped to pay for the 5 defibrillators that are placed around the village in strategic positions. One of these was used last year when a member of the Tennis Club was successfully treated having collapsed on court.

The days match was eventually won by the team from St.Michaels School captained by Andy Fry, congratulations to them and a huge thank you to all who took part and made such a great success on the day. Special thanks go to Tony Williams for his organisation ably assist by his wife Lynn and to the ladies who kept everyone supplied with tea and biscuits

Same time next year everyone ?

New Irrigation System

After a few minor "tweaks" we now have a fully functioning irrigation system. Half of the total cost of £4000 was kindly donated by Farnsfield Parish Council. This system should help keep our green in top condition especially if we ever again experience the dry summer that we had last year.
