Opening of the Green Sat. 20th April 2019

A Glorious start to the new season. 36 members turned up on a hot Easter Saturday afternoon for a "round robin" event run by Ron Wright.

The green bowled well thanks to the efforts of the green team during the closed season and everyone enjoyed their first outdoor session of the year.

The team of Jan Gregg, Trevor Gregg and Bridget Andrews ended the afternoon as the winning team, congratulations to them and well done to all.

South Forest Friendly 17th Feb 2019

Our Annual friendly match against South Forest was held on Sunday 17th Feb and again was a great success despite losing to South Forest 103-78. The games were competed in the usual friendly competitive manner and this year, thanks to an anonymous Farnsfield Club member a trophy was fought for. The trophy was dedicated in memory of Vic Atkinson, our much loved late Captain and also a keen indoor bowler at South Forest where he is also remembered with great fondness and respect. This year the trophy of course went to South Forest, but next year............. come on Farnsfield.

32 Sleeps 'til Santa

Another successful social event held at the club on Friday 23rd November.

A great turn out of members with fabulous food, a very generous raffle and the usual fun. Crazy "onesies" were worn by several members and the usual team of members decorated the club house and sorted the many contributions of food etc. A special mention must go to Audrey and Tony McGrath for their wonderful window decorations.

For the first time ever, first prize for both sessions was won by one person, Janet Boothroyd who generously donated her second prize money to club funds. Congratulations and many thanks Janet.

Thanks to all who turned up and made the evening the success that it was.

Presentation Day Saturday 15th September 2018

The final day of the outdoor season was a great success. It started with a "Spider" won by Gordon Nobbs and then a round robin "Trips" competition won by Dennis Bingham. Prizes and trophies were presented by our President, Bob Reeves following which we had a sumptious buffet. The bar and most of the food was provided by our generous President, Bob. The season has now come to an end, the green will be prepared for the winter, some really serious work being carried out by our wonderful volunteers. This work is much needed and the team of Ross Munro, Tom Fleming and Andy Fry assisted of course by our tireless Chairman Stan Chadwick and others will be starting the work on Monday 17th September.

The Tuesday Short Mat Bowling sessions start on Tuesday 2nd October at 2.00pm. A nice way to stay in touch with everyone during the winter and at the same time enjoying a bit of fun bowling, some nice biscuits and a cuppa during the winter months.

Well done to everyone for what was a wonderful season of bowling, here's hoping that next year will be even better. To all those "new" bowlers who have all bowled so well following the successfull coaching sessions, why not put your names down on the team sheets for next year and join in the leagues competitive bowling, you will be warmly welcomed by the captains and team members, a great way to get even more enjoyment from our game.

Village Match 2nd Sept 2018

Another glorious sunny day saw the annual village match contested by 12 teams representing various community organisations within the village.

Most of the contestants were in general "non bowlers" but the standard of bowling was incredible. Everyone seemed to enjoy the afternoon and joined in the fun with zeal.

The afternoon started with a "spider" competition followed by the competition in earnest which was won for the second year running by the team from "The Plough".

A total of £136.00 was raised from the raffle and sales of tea and biscuits which was presented to Peter Teather in support of the "Community Responder Scheme", our annual nominated charity. Peter hopes to set up a defibrillator training session at the bowls club sometime in the near future to which all are invited. Anyone interested can register with Marilyn Tarbox at any time who will coordinate with Peter and his team in choosing a suitable date. This will be a most interesting and very important event which will give everyone an insight and knowledge of what to do in the case of an emergency and how to use the equipment situated at various strategic places around the village.

Many thanks to all who took part in supporting the event and a special thanks to the ladies who worked all afternoon supplying the tea and biscuits and to Tony Williams for the seamless organisation.
