Congratulations to Geoff Allen.........

Many congratulations to Geoff Allen on his fantastic win in the Mens’ Over 60 Fours National Final held on Saturday at Nottingham Indoor Bowls.

Geoff, along with 7 fellow players from Nottingham Indoor Bowls achieved a comfortable 40 v 28 win in the National Final against Moonfleet 2000 from Weymouth. Both Teams were neck and neck during the early stages and were all square after 12 ends, however the consistency and perhaps home advantage of Nottingham, proved too much for Moonfleet during the closing stages and both Nottingham rinks pulled away for a comfortable title win.

En route to the final, Nottingham had wins over Alfreton, Newark, Erewash, Stamford (by just 1 point) and Hornsea before beating Folkstone in the semi-final.

Well done Geoff!

Pre-Season Indoor Friendly Feb 19th 2017

A great afternoons bowling at South Forest Indoor Bowling Club. Club Captains, David Keward (South Forest) and Vic Atkinson (Farnsfield) led the teams in a keenly but very friendly competitive afternoons bowling. The final score was a testimony to the friendly spirit of the event ending up as a very respectable 82-82 draw. The standard of bowling shows great potential for the forthcoming outdoor season.
Enrolment day is Sunday 9th April but you can enrol at any time before then. The pre season dinner at the Plough is on Wed. 1st March, at the time of writing this we have 43 members booked in but there is still room for more.
Hope to see everyone back on the Green for the forthcoming season. Best wishes and good bowling, Trevor.

Santa Drive 2016

Another successful social evening.

Good food and great company with a keenly contested “Santa Drive”. Excellent musical entertainment was provided as usual by Tony McGrath. Santa’s little elves (a.k.a. Audrey, Barbara and Marilyn) were on hand to keep things on track having spent the day before decorating the club with the assistance of Tony and Trevor.

Thanks to all who turned up to support the club and who brought food and raffle prizes. The evening got Christmas off to an early start and everyone joined in the fun, the “12 Days of Christmas” was performed with great enthusiasm by the whole assembly, not quite up to St Pauls Cathedral Choir standard, but with feeling and gusto nevertheless !!

So Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to one and all. Hope to see you on the grass next year but don’t forget that the short mat sessions are held on Tuesday afternoon throughout the winter starting at 2.00pm
