Howard Victor (Vic) Atkinson 18th Feb 1946 – 8th Dec 2017

Yesterday, Friday 5th January 2018, was the day we said a sad goodbye to our much loved and respected member and coach, Vic Atkinson. The service celebrating his life was held at St.Michaels and All Angels Church, Farnsfield. The church was packed  out with family and friends, many of whom new Vic through his passion for the game.

Vic was a lovely man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, not least of which being the club and the bowling community in general. He was a great ambassador for the game that he came to love and to which over the last few years he gave much of his time to.

I share this photo, which is how many will remember him. His beautiful smooth delivery of the bowl, how we will miss this.

Club Presentation Day 2017

Don’t forget the final event of our season this Saturday

The Presentation Day will start at 2:15 pm this saturday with a ROUND ROBIN event

Please report in before 2:15 so that you can enter the final competition of the season

Following this round robin event PRESENTATIONS of the seasons victors will take place in the Pavilion
which our Competition Secretary Ron Wright will MC along with our President , Bubbly Bob who again
is providing REFRESHMENTS and a BAR !!

The bar will be open throughout the afternoon where you can purchase drinks
and again on Sunday at the final Friendly match - YIPPEE !

You have to be there!

Cup Double!

Triumphant Captain Vic proudly received TWO trophies today following the 4 x4 Team winning a cup by defeating Division 1 Champions Retford by a slender 3 shots.

After an exciting and sometimes nail biting game where Farnsfield held the lead for most of the game
but where Retford were closing the gap rapidly towards the last few ends but just failing to gain the 4 shots on the last end they required!

Following the presentation of the Cup to Captain Vic the team were then presented with the League Division 2
Champions Trophy following an outstanding season when ALL 14 Matches played were won by the team.

This means that they return to Division 1 next year having been relegated only last season.
It just shows how fortunes can change.

The team photo shows the winning cup team but there are several players who didn’t play today who have
contributed to this success throughout the season.

WELL DONE EVERYONE!

Club Finals - Sept 3rd 2017

What a wonderful day - Great Bowling (some beautiful deliveries demonstrated in the photos)

Extremely competitive but Massively Friendly bowling.

Weather shone on us all day as opposed to soaking us all day last year !!

Fabulous organisation again by our Competition Organiser Ron Wright who has had more than his usual challenges throughout the competition season right up to finals day
and has managed to solve them all.

What a wonderful job as usual.

Hope Trevor will be pleased with the photos taken in his absence.

WELL done everyone

Love you all - what a club !!! - as seen on television Ha! Ha!

Notts TV visits Farnsfield Bowling Club

On a beautiful sunny Monday morning Notts.TV turned up to film the action and interview members about the wonderful game of bowls. It proved to be a very interesting and enjoyable morning for all who turned up. Even their cameraman had a go at bowling. Great effort was made by our coaches, Vic Atkinson and Paul Ritchie along with Stan Chadwick and Tony Williamson in organising and running various aspects of the game through coaching to competitions. The item was aired on Notts.TV (channel 7 on Freeserve) on Tuesday 18th July and will be available to view on their “catch up” section on their web site ( www.nottstv.com ).

For users who missed the action on TV, use this link to view the brodcast on your computer: https://nottstv.com/programme/sports-week-19-07-17/ (sorry to say you will have to sit throught the preceding pieces on boxing and paralympians before the good bit!)
