Monday 20th June saw another postponement of our coaching session due to heavy rain, but still 10 intrepid people turned up hoping to play. The lovely Bridget put in an appearance complete with wellies, mackintosh, brolly and big smile despite being disappointed at not being able to practice.

The final coaching session of this season will be held on Monday 27th June at 10.30 am, weather permitting. This seasons coaching course has seen 23 people taking part with quite a number joining the club and taking part in the Tuesday afternoon rollups so the future of the club is looking good. One new member, Wilson, has even repaired one of the rotten benches, brilliant and thanks Wilson.

The season started on Saturday 23rd April when 40 members turned up for a great afternoon of bowling in cold but sunny conditions.

The competition was a keenly contested “round Robin”,  Judith Lytollis won the ladies prize and Will Brooks the Gents. The members are now looking forward to a good season of friendly and competitive bowling.

New members are always welcome and free tuition with equipment is provided by our two coaches, Paul Ritchie and Vic Atkinson. Coaching starts on Monday 2nd May through to June 20th, 10.30am to 12.30pm. Paul can be contacted on 01623 883391.

Spring Chicken Drive 15th April 2016

Another successful pre season social event, A “Chicken Drive”. Lots of great food and jolly company.

The usual crew got the ball rolling with decorations etc. Special mention must go to Audrey, Barbara, Marilyn, Tony, Trevor, Roger and Sue for all their efforts which were greatly appreciated by a happy crowd.

Tony entertained us again in his usual light hearted manner, this time accompanied by his wife Audrey with a great humorous “ditty”, it’s surprising what you can get for half a crown “up North”.

Thanks to everyone who turned up and supported the event, bringing wonderful food and raffle prizes. The green opens soon so we hope to see you all then.

South Forest Friendly Feb 21st 2016

We held or annual indoor friendly match against South Forest on Sunday 21st Feb. Everyone enjoyed the occasion, despite being beaten 113-74.

The members of the South Forest Indoor Bowling Club, captained by David Keward, made us very welcome, as usual, and the bowling was very competitive. Even those of our members who had limited experience of the indoor game put up a good show but the quality and experience of the South Forest team made sure that they won.

Having said that, we all had a great time, Thank you South Forest. Now bring on the summer and let’s get back to the real stuff on grass !!
